A peace treaty with Lebanon would cancel the reason for them having a militia. It would mean withdrawing from some postage-stamps of Lebanese territory, but that would be no big deal. Israel obviously doesn’t want to, preferring to live as a garrison state indefinitely. However, without enduring friendly relations with neighbouring countries, including the Palestinians, Israel will go the way of the Latin Kingdom eventually.
