Which is probably why it has so many to begin with. The value of an alliance or partner to the ally or partner diminishes as number of partners and allies increases. Diminishing returns etc. Same is true with NATO.

Push comes to shove, in any conflict the only partners or allies the US can depend on will be those who feel most threatened. Asia is large, pick which part. Beyond that the idea is for balancing coalitions.

If push comes to shove, I suspect that the number of reliable partners will be fewer than the number of alliances.
